She Watched from Her Window

She watched the snowflakes fall
trying to recall
the features of his face once again
her darling precious love---Ben.

What a wondrous time they had
walks on the seashore became their fad
holding hands, laughing and kissing
all of this she was---missing.

Their plans of the future went to Perdition
this is a true admission
reflecting about their non-future together
can make one’s heart tough as---leather.

Ben died in the war
he healed the wounded and more
his engagement ring still sparkled on her arthritic finger
her love will always---linger.

This was her life so many years ago
she looked out her window to see a blanket of snow
thinking time does not heal all wounds of the heart
she and Ben will never be---apart.

His blue eyes still shined and glowed with love
so sure as she gazed out her window into the above
somewhere his spirit waits to be born again
and so will her spirit one day to be with her---Ben.

She can hear his laughter above the flurries of snow,
and his deep mellow voice saying I am waiting to go
She smiled as she recalled his sweet kisses on her lips
all the way exploring to her---hips.

Blessed her memory is so clear
because one day he will be near
then through her door a nurse walked in,
with her meds for the night and she
will dream of her---Ben.

From her bed her eyes searched beyond her window
as the moon shined brightly against the icy outside
she said her prayers with great pride
soon the morning sunlight filtered through her room
but did not wake her silent body,
lingered only a scent of her---perfume.

Ben came before dawn and took his darling with him
only the Chickadees witnessed the now young couple
who looked into her room to say good-by
to her earthly body before they floated ---to the light in the sky.
